Mastering Goals: A Guide to Effective Goal Setting & Maintaining Focus

Every year, individuals set goals for themselves, both personal and professional. The personal goals might be to lose weight or exercise more. You might include less screen time or the endless scrolling on social media. On the professional side, leaders set goals for growth and development for themselves but also their teams and organizations.  Leaders may want to master and new competency or become more inspiring. Organization may want to improve their culture and employee engagement to name a few.

Despite the benefits to be achieved, many of these “goals” evaporate or are no longer a priority soon after they are set. A recent study of individuals setting New Years Resolutions, Seventy-seven percent maintained their pledges for 1 week but only 19% for 2 years. So, what causes this discrepancy?
